Blue Dream Neocaridina Shrimp, also known as Fantasy Blue Velvet or Blue Dreams, are the one of the most desirable type of Neocardinia Shrimp due to their vibrant sapphire blue hue and ability to eradicate algae.
These freshwater shrimp are highly adaptable, making them ideal for pretty much any freshwater aquarium. They are commonly used in planted and community tanks, and are super effective for waste management and algae control. (These guys completely demolished my infestation of hairgrass algae when nothing else worked!) Their rapid breeding creates a colony that acts as a highly efficient cleaning crew, plus they add a splash of bright contrasting color.
Neocardinia Shrimp don't need much food, just one Invertebrate Wafer about the size of a dime is sufficient for 10+ shrimp. They can also enjoy blanched vegetables (like zucchini, carrots, and spinach) and algae wafers or pellets. Overfeeding often leads to death, so avoid giving them more than they can consume in two hours.
Shrimp require calcium in the water to successfully molt and avoid dying during the stressful process. Calcium Supplements are an easy way to make sure they get the proper calcium intake for the best colors and health.
Do not keep shrimp with any fish that might be big enough or aggressive enough to make them a tasty snack. My betta lives just fine with them, but almost every fish will eat the shrimp babies.
Disclaimer:
My shrimp are ungraded, like many other hobbyists. I do cull undesirable colors from my colony to preserve the genetics. The shrimp you will receive will be blue and striking. As you can see in the photos, some legs or tails may not be solid blue.

very amazingly kept shrimp! i had no doas even in texas heat, i had to run out since shop doesnt send notifs on packages anymore? anyways i drip acclimated for an hour and theyre doing wonderful in my tank! my only concern was the water levels in the packaging. it was a bit low, which i understand the heat might have a factor. all in all great shrimp.
When i got my shrimp, i was stunned to how they were packaged. The envelope had no labeling that the package contained lube animals or was fragile in any way. The shrimp themselves were shipped in a plastic bag, unprotected and with barely enough water in the bag to keep them covered. This made it extremely difficult to get them out of the bag as they just stuck to the side.
I was surprised to see all of them survived being taken out of the bag seemingly healthy. I'm undecided about buying livestock again unless they make serious changes to how they're packed and shipped.
only one doa and the rest are now very active in their new tank !
Not only did I get the exact shrimp I asked for quickly, I also got a free snail (so cute), some plants, and samples of food/calcium! The best buying experience I’ve had in a long time. Thank you! ❤️
